Can you see Earthrise from the Moon?
Yes, astronauts can see Earthrise from lunar orbit, but not from the Moon’s surface itself.
The famous Earthrise photo was taken from lunar orbit, not the Moon's surface. Standing on the Moon, the Earth basically hangs nearly still in the sky because you’re tidally locked—Earthrise as seen from orbit is a special orbital perspective, not a daily lunar show.
